An active young man with a drive to compete, Caillou says PE is his favorite part of school. He is always eager to go to the pool with his friends, and is becoming a good swimmer. He excels at building with Legos! Pokemon characters provide inspiration for drawing, and when it comes to reading, books about Star Wars are at the top of his list. Caillou looks forward to the day he's old enough to spend his summers salmon fishing.
Like his big brother, Rio loves to play at the pool! Those who know him well say that though he is quiet and reserved, Rio is a "hugger' who loves everybody. If others are sad, he is sad and tries to cheer them up. He doesn't like to play alone, and would be happiest in a forever family with other children. He enjoys doing art, likes to play with remote control cars, and loves caring for all kinds of animals. Rio says that when he grows up he wants to take care of pets.
Activities like berry picking, hunting, fishing, and doing traditional art, dancing, and singing keep Caillou and Rio engaged with their community.
The siblings will thrive in a two-parent family that balances structure with nurture, and who can devote the time and attention they need. Having an adult male role model would be positive for them. Rio and Caillou will be relying on their adoptive family to keep them connected with birth family members and their Alaska Native community.
