Break out the lights—Josh is here! This awesome youth loves anything to do with light-up and sensory toys. Things that move or vibrate or make sounds rule Josh’s world. Josh recently got an electric drum kit that he has been loving to play with, as well as a light-up spinning wand that keeps him entertained.

Speaking of music, that’s one thing that really gets Josh going. If he’s not checking out his drum kit, you can be sure to find him dancing around to fun children's songs on Cocomelon. He perks up immediately when he hears them! Josh also loves listening to quiet nursey rhyme music and white noise when he’s falling asleep.

Sociable and happy, Josh’s caseworker says that he loves being around people. In school, he enjoys interacting with both his peers and his teachers and staff alike. He loves circle time in the classroom where he gets to sit and learn with his peers.

Josh recognizes people by their voices and perks up and looks for them when he hears them. He’s working hard at using and adapting to his new glasses. Families that can help Josh with this adjustment would benefit him well.

Communication is also an area where Josh is developing and constantly learning. Josh primarily communicates with people through body language, facial expressions, and verbalizations. When he’s happy, he loves to babble. When he needs something, he will lead someone to it. Josh has used various forms of AAC communication devices as well as buttons to communicate his wants and needs with caregivers.

Josh’s team loves that he is a happy, smiley kid. Among the many things that keep Josh’s attention – he loves the colors red and orange, and there’s a certain activity box that he’s very interested in and will find any toy he likes in the box that’s within his reach.

Josh’s team is particularly interested in hearing from two-parent families of any configuration that are ready to help Josh continue to thrive. Families who can help Josh continue to receive the supports he currently receives and to be strong medical advocates for him will be ideal.
