Simon is a podcaster at heart, with so much to share - so we created our own studio and hit play!

Simon is a musician at heart. A piano player for years, he continues to pick up new instruments to broad his range and talents - usually teaching himself. Some of his latest? Ukulele, guitar, bass, and drums! It's clear music is meant to be a big part of his life, and will continue to be as he gets older. Simon's skills don't end with instruments. He is a regular songwriter, crafting his own lyrics in notebooks about what he's feeling and what's going on in the world around him. There's no topic that can't be captured in a song, he says. He has a great singing voice and has been known to show it off during karaoke opportunities, as well as participating in school choir in the past.

Currently in his senior year of high school, Simon has continually made progress in his academic ventures and does very well with structure, routine, and support from his teachers and mentors. As he gears up for an after high school life, Simon has started to think about college and is highly interested in sound engineering or counseling.

Simon previously created a podcast in 2018 to share more with potential adoptive families. A can't-miss first 'episode'!

Music is also very tied to Simon's involvement with his local church. He has become a music leader and regular member of their youth group. These are ties and connections he hopes to maintain if he can. Church has given him a place to step into more leadership responsibilities, mentor younger kids, and continue to hone his musical talents. It's become an important place and community for him.

Simon's involvement in his own In-Depth Profile can be seen everywhere! He was eager to put his voice into it, especially through podcasting. He's a terrific conversationalist, and having a chance to talk at length about what he loves was a great fit for him.

Simon's dream car once he gets his license? The 1958 classic Plymouth Fury - from the Stephen King-inspired "Christine"!

Simon tends to be a bit reserved when he meets someone new, but in seemingly no time at all, his bright sense of humor and natural warmth shines through. Simon really connects with animals and has even worked in a program with horses, which he has really enjoyed. In his free time, Simon also really enjoys participating in community activities, particularly at the Boys & Girls Club, which he has attended for a few years.

The many faces of Simon.

Simon has a really close relationship with a few key biological family members. He would like to maintain those relationships and is looking for a future family who will support those bonds throughout his life. His worker is excited to hear from any family who feels a connection with Simon, and is especially interested to hear from families in Washington State and those in the Pacific Northwest.

Simon is a caring, fun-loving, smart teenager who would really like to find a permanent family. In recent months, Simon has made noticeable progress when it comes to expressing himself and would do really well with a family who can encourage his growth while providing him with the support he needs. Simon is a passionate kid with a lot of interests –everything from music to computer games to anime—and would be a great addition to any kind of family. Simon’s culture is important to him, so a family who understands his culture or can provide him with the opportunity to learn more about his heritage would be an especially great fit. Simon would be happy in an adoptive family with any number of siblings, older or younger, and definitely a home with a few pets! If you are interested in learning more about this incredibly talented kid, let us know! We are excited to find Simon the right adoptive family.

Beyond the Profile: Over the course of two different podcast sessions with Simon, I can tell you that we could have carried on for another few hours - no problem! Time spent with Simon feels intentional and rich. He is thoughtful, reflective, hilarious, and kind. Our time in the 'studio' flew by, and provided such a great opportunity to go deep on so many topics. I love that he chose and directed his own podcasting sessions, because that's the medium that fits him best. Which is what In-Depth Profiles are all about. I hope you'll take the time to listen all the way through and hear everything he wanted to share and go deep on. He deserves to find a permanent family, and I hope all of his contributions inspire you, or someone you know, to reach out.
