Meet Lamaiyah and Alea

When asked to describe herself, Lamaiyah explained that she is kind and likes to eat macaroni and cheese and chicken and french fries and she likes to draw and swim and she likes school. When Alea was asked the same thing, she excitedly described her love of Chinese food, ice-cream, and cookies and added that she likes Pokémon cards like her big sister Lamaiyah and her favorite movie is Caroline. Alea went on to add that she likes to draw and swim and likes school but not music or PE, though she can do a backflip in the pool and she can do the splits and she can run really fast.

Currently in the 4th grade, Lamaiyah started the school year very positively and has become much more engaged with her peers and classmates than in past school years. She’s working hard on keeping up on tough subjects and does great with a lot of positive reinforcement and encouragement.

Currently in the 1st grade, Alea loves school and does great in the classroom. She has a big personality and likes to interact with her teachers and peers. She does really well with one-on-one attention, both in and outside of the classroom.

Lamaiyah aspires to be an artist when she grows up, and she spends a lot of her time practicing her natural talent. Her favorite things to draw are Pokémon and My Little Pony characters. A life in the arts just may be in Lamaiyah’s future – her passion goes beyond drawing! She really enjoys play acting with other kids, emulating stage performances she has seen like Mary Poppins and The Nutcracker. Naturally, Lamaiyah also loves to sing and dance and play games.

Together, the two sisters love to spend time outside, especially swimming in the summer. The girls were able to attend a very fun summer camp this past year and really enjoyed it. They made connections with a few camp mentors that are still present in their lives, and very important to the girls.

Alea is a very engaging kid who loves her stuffed animals, My Little Pony, princesses, dancing, and playing dress up. Alea loves to get outside and ride her bike, go to the park, go to the zoo, or just spend time at the playground. Alea is very social and loves to play with other kids, especially her big sister.

Lamaiyah and Alea have biological brothers that are an important part of their life – an adoptive family who will support those bonds will be essential.

Alea and Lamaiyah would like to be adopted together. When asked what kind of family they’d like, Lamaiyah notes that she would prefer to be in a home with not very many children – these two would be great as the only kids in a home. Lamaiyah wants a nice family and would love to have her own room. Both kids would do great with loving, patient parents who will involve them in family decisions and be there for them throughout their lives.
