Mahrea has a passion and a talent for makeup. So she created her own makeup tutorial to show her skills.
You probably haven't met a teenager quite as motivated as Mahrea. She has dreams for her future and is ready to start pursuing them today. Currently in her junior year of high school, Mahrea is focused and motivated, surrounding herself with educational advocates and mentors to help her meet her goals. She has regularly held a job during her high school years, scheduling out her time around her shifts, schoolwork, and other commitments. She plans to begin taking classes for college credit during her senior year of high school, a path that will set her toward pursuing one of her greatest passions: cosmetology.
Mahrea sat down to share about why she wants an adoptive family and what's ahead for her future.
It would be an understatement to refer to her interest in makeup as just a ‘hobby.’ Mahrea is incredibly talented and creative with her makeup tools in hand (don’t miss her makeup tutorial video here on her profile!). She has her sights set on cosmetology as a career, and is hoping to work somewhere ‘makeup-based.’ Asked why she wanted to share with families through an In-Depth Profile, Mahrea says:
"Because I want people to know that this is what I do in my free time, this is what I'm passionate about, this is who I am. And I want to have a say in who I'm about to go spend the rest of my life with."
Mahrea is artistic to her core. In addition to makeup, her love of art has range: she enjoys glass-blowing, body art, drawing, and anything that allows her creativity to shine. She’s regularly taking photos or arranging something new on her bedroom walls. She also loves music, listening to a wide variety of artists and genres.
Mahrea does have siblings that she would like to stay in touch with. An adoptive family who can support those connections will be essential. She’s hopeful to find an adoptive family with a strong maternal presence, either a single mom, two moms, or also a mom and a dad would be a good fit for her. Mahrea says she wouldn’t mind having siblings who are young, or are near her in age. Although she’d also be happy as an only child in a family. A family who can support her as she continues to navigate high school and her future, throughout the rest of her life, is what she’s looking for.
If you can envision Mahrea in your family, please reach out to us! We’re excited to find her the adoptive family she deserves.
