What is an Adoption Exchange?

An Adoption Exchange is a unique service that connects families with waiting children. Exchange services are provided through state contracts, and are usually free.
Adoption Exchanges facilitate communication between family adoption workers and the caseworkers or recruiters who represent children. An Adoption Exchange supports families with guidance and resources, but prioritizes the well-being of waiting children.
A credible Adoption Exchange embraces the ethics and best practices1 of the Adoption Exchange Association (AEA).
There are many AEA endorsed Adoption Exchanges nationwide where families can view waiting children.
