Meet Matthew

Matthew is a bright, expressive, and humorous youth who brings warmth and kindness to everyone around him. He is deeply loyal and forms strong, meaningful connections with the people he trusts.

A natural homebody, he enjoys relaxing with his favorite shows—Mickey Mouse, Paw Patrol, and Bluey—and loves spending time playing board games, video games, and reading. Matthew enjoys having quiet time in his room, as it helps him feel calm. His playful nature and sharp sense of humor shine through in his interactions.

Matthew thrives in a home with good structure, where his routines and choices can be honored and supported. Patient families who can provide him with reassurance and guidance when he’s feeling overwhelmed help him greatly. Matthew appreciates being in-the-loop, especially when it comes to big transitions and changes.

Matthew is supported by a dedicated team of providers who help manage his various needs. Prospective adoptive parents will need to be able and willing to take him to frequent appointments at his specialty hospitals in his community. Experience with children who have complex medical needs—or a willingness to learn—is essential. Matthew receives in-home supports and services that assist with his daily needs.

School is one of his greatest joys! Matthew loves learning and socializing with his teachers and peers. He does well with specialized instruction and support in a dedicated classroom to ensure his comfort and success. He has developed a strong attachment to his current school.

Matthew has a very close bond with his older brother. Maintaining this relationship is important to both of them, and they have expressed a desire to stay in contact as they grow. The ideal family will value this bond and support ongoing sibling contact. Matthew also has a meaningful connection with his paternal grandparents.

His ideal family will be flexible, able to adjust routines when he becomes overwhelmed, offer alternative choices when tasks feel too difficult, and modify expectations based on his needs in the moment. Because of his needs, his family must also be comfortable with medical care and willing to stay engaged with ongoing training and frequent appointments.

Matthew is a kind, social go-getter. Can you see this youth in your family? Please reach out to us. We’re excited to connect Matthew with the adoptive family he deserves.
