Meet Dion Jr. "DJ"

"DJ is a very happy and silly kid. He loves to make funny faces and blow kisses. An adorable, bubbly kiddo." ~Social Worker

Dion Jr, who everyone affectionally calls "DJ", is a kiddo whose team describes him as having “golden retriever energy.” He is always excited to see people and greets them with a huge smile.

DJ loves to crawl over to people to show off his toys. DJ currently adores Mickey Mouse and has a stuffed animal he loves to snuggle with. DJ is getting more confident in his communication and is picking up on ASL quickly. He is smart and expressive. He can sign "I love you" and his name!

While he is not in school yet, DJ has been building up lots of social skills with his caregivers and the many people that are a part of his team.

One thing DJ loves to do is watch the garbage trucks outside. When he hears them coming down the street, he will climb up onto the recliner to be able to get a better look at the truck from the window. DJ will make his way around his room and play area. He will crawl over and pick up toys he wants to play with and pull himself up to standing.

DJ’s team is looking forward to families willing to be strong medical advocates and supports for him. Supporting DJ in his various services and providing him with the care and attention he deserves are in his best interest. DJ does well with lots of supports. A medical background could be helpful in caring for DJ but is not a requirement. A family can be trained on his care needs.

DJ has an adult half-sister and 2 nieces who live locally. These relatives visit him periodically. It is important for families to help nurture these biological connections for DJ as he grows up.

The right family for DJ will have the flexibility, patience, and ability to maintain DJ’s structure and routine. DJ will thrive with consistent love, care, and affection. He needs to have someone who can encourage and support him when things are challenging. He also needs someone to spend time with him and share in his joys of the little things. Caregivers will need the ability to identify his needs and be proactive in taking actions to ensure his needs are met, whatever they might evolve to be. DJ wants to be a part of a family and know that they are permanently committed to him.

DJ currently lives in a home with both older and younger foster siblings. DJ loves and gets along with almost everyone and would do well as a sibling or an only child. The family would need to balance the needs of the siblings and have the time and energy to support and care for DJ. It would be important that DJ’s family have a strong support system.

Can you see this smiley, curious child in your family? Reach out to us! We’re excited to find DJ the adoptive home and support that he deserves.
