Before we can release information on how to contact the worker of a specific child, you need to complete an adoptive home study. This study should be suitable for the placement of an older/special needs child. The home study is the first thing a child's worker will want to review in order to consider your family for a particular child. To get started on a home study, look in the yellow pages of your phone book under "adoption" in order to locate the agencies in your community who are licensed to do home studies and make adoptive placements. You should also call your nearest State Social Services Office and ask to speak to someone knowledgeable about adoption. When you are selecting an agency to do your home study. Be certain to tell them that you have been looking at children listed with adoption exchanges and may wish to adopt a child from out-of-state. When your adoptive home study has been completed, please contact us again if you see a child who seems a good match for your family. At that time we will be glad to give you the name, address and phone number of that's child worker. PLEASE NOTE: Many western states want families to have training in foster care, grief and loss, child physical abuse, sexual abuse and drug and alcohol related issues. A reference on how your family has been prepared for adopting older children should be included in your home study. For additional information about the content and process of the home study, please see the frequently asked questions (FAQ) link. View
