Kollen has come a long way in increasing his speech and language skills, with the support of speech thereapy through Early Intervention services. He also has therapeutic supports to help manage his symptoms of attention difficulties and high energy, and greatly benefits from having a very structured, consistent home environment. He and Kayden are doing some therapeutic work together to lessen their tendency to get too rough with one another while interacting and playing. Kayden and Kollen are extremely bonded with one another and have been together since Kayden’s birth. They have two teenage half-sisters who are currently living with a relative. The boys see the sisters when they are in town and enjoy their visits. The boys also have strong bonds with their paternal grandmother and have monthly visits with her. They would benefit from continued contact with her, as she has been the only consistant person in their lives. It is important that the folk(s) chosen to adopt Kollen and Kayden have a good understanding of how neglect, parental substance abuse, and domestic violence can impact a child’s sense of well being, safety, and development, as well as the ways in which prenatal exposure to alcohol and drugs may impact development. Kollen and Kayden need adoptive folk(s) who have the stamina to parent two active boys and to see that their educational and developmental needs are met. Kollen and Kayden are delightful little boys who have enchanted all of the people in their lives. They will undoubtedly captivate their new family as soon as they come home. |
