Some of Marvy’s favorite activities include manipulating switch toys or playing with anything that seems to him to have a cause/effect connection. Marvy also loves just about anything that makes noise. The louder the better! It's amazing what this little guy can do with his feet, too! Although Marvy is non-weight bearing, he is able to maneuver around using his hands and feet. He loves spinning himself around in his crib and dangling his toes in the air. He currently lives in a medical foster home with an abundance of foster brothers and sisters. His birth mother has open visitation with him and would like to have the ability to continue with this plan. Marvy was placed in foster care 2006 and has been in the same foster home since then. He suffered physical injuries to his head, prior to entering care, which is believed to be a primary cause of his developmental delays. Marvy receives feedings through a G-tube and recently underwent open heart surgery. His recovery was much faster than expected. Marvy is susceptible to a wide range of conditions that can produce a rapid decline in his health, but with attention to his health needs, this can be prevented. Marvy has spirit and fight that has produced resilience through all of his hardships. Currently, Marvy attends occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. He has many medical doctors who specialize in different areas who work well as a team. His treatment team is all aware of his full medical needs and potential health problems that could include respiratory infection, dehydration, diet problems, cardiovascular complications, and thyroid problems. More detailed information will be provided to prospective adoptive parents. Because it is unknown at this time what the future holds for this little guy, he must have consistent, loving adoptive parent(s) willing and able to make a life-long commitment to him. It will be necessary for his adoptive parent(s) to have knowledge of basic medical procedures or be willing to learn. Having an adoptive family able to provide for his care need as well as to focus on his strengths will help him to reach his full potential. |
