CLIFF (6/01) and JONATHAN (8/94) are the younger two of four full siblings, and they have strong, affectionate, sibling bonds. The boys, who are being featured together and individually, would love to be adopted as a sibling group, but each could do well in a separate adoptive family if regular contact with his brother is maintained.
Cliff is very handsome. Between his sparkling eyes and spiked hair, most adults just want to hug him. He is a boy who likes his world clean and orderly, and he keeps his own room surprisingly neart. Cliff is extraordinarily kind and caring and can be extremely loving. He is very close with two of his three brothers and loves his kindergarten teacher and foster family. Cliff plays well by himself and has a good attention span. If the spirit moves him, he may take off on an adventure. He has a lot of energy to put into being a brother and a child to the right family. Following a thoughtful, slow transtion in his adoptive family, Cliff should respond very well to adult(s) who will make a commitment to him and Jonathan.
Jonathan is a very good looking boy with dark, blond hair and striking blue eyes and a very engaging, energetic personality. His voice is much larger then he is and a good ear is needed because he loves to talk. Jonathan is affectionate with his foster and bilogoical family, yet he can be blunt in his comments and observations. He has a great sense of humor and can be view on his brothers and on the world are highly entertaining. Jonathan has the capacity to be patient and nurturing with other children, and is even able to appropriately redirect Cliff’s behaviors when he gets too rowdy. Jonathan is most comfortable in relationships where expectations are realistic and there is good structure. He is very much interested in the world around him and in others – he clearly has an appetite for learning about people, places, and activities. Jonathan is very active and would also like to be with a family who can be active with him. He truly loves basketball, both playing and watching and he loves to ride his bike as well.
Being a pretty typical kid, Cliff can get aggressive at times and have tantrums when tired or frustrated. At times he has a hard time following directions but with gentle prompts and redirection he gets back on task pretty easily. He has made good progress in his speech and language developmental, and he is pretty easily understood by those who know him. Cliff has not had a lot of exposure to pets.
Jonathan has attention difficulties and high energy, which are being well managed with medication. According to foster dad, while Jonathan is much better at talking then listening, he has caring relationships on which to build. He continues to do well school and is still benefiting from having an individual education plan for speech and language support. Jonathan has the ability to forge meaningful relationships with peers and family members, and is a very social teen. He can make friends easily. Because it is so easy, he needs to be prompted to remember personal safety issues when engaging strangers in conversation. He also needs support in strengthening his own personal boundaries.
The boys came into care May 2004. The oldest brother lives with his mother out of state. Jonathan is in a home with the other older brother, and Cliff in in a different placement. The boys are counting on their adoptive folk(s) to help them have contact with their siblings as they are growing up. Jonathan and Cliff have the capacity and willingness to attach to a family and provide a lot of love and care to those who provide stability and permanency, and who will honor their connections to their birth family members. While the boys will keep their adoptive parent(s) on their toes, there will be lots of rewards in parenting and nurturing these boys and tons of fun over the years to come.
