KRYSTAL (9/95) is a wonderful child who is creative, fun loving and is looking forward to being part of a positive, dynamic family. Krystal is legally free.

Krystal, with brown eyes and thick wavy brown hair, has an exuberant, outgoing and social personality and loves to please adults and peers. She adores being the center of attention, and enjoys activities such as theater and dance. Krystal has very strong singing abilities and loves to showcase this talent for others (she especially enjoys Karaoke!). Krystal likes bowling, swimming, reading and writing poetry. In school, Krystal is in sixth grade and does well academically with wide ranging interests. She participates in the chess club, singing in the choir, yearbook staff, and the knitting circle.

Krystal came into foster care in September of 2004 with her older brother and younger sister. To meet each child’s individual needs, the decision was made to place the children separately. Each child’s adoptive family must be willing to help the children maintain contact with each other as they are growing up.

Like many other older siblings, Krystal felt responsible for her younger sister and would try to protect her as well as direct her behavior in a parental manner. Krystal likes to think of herself as a teenager and needs continued guidance around acting her age. Keeping Krystal involved in physical activities and interacting with same age children will help her with this. Participating in therapy has helped Krystal to strengthen her boundaries and develop better personal safety skills. She does, though, continue to need a family that will continue to support and encourage her regarding these issues.

Krystal needs a safe, stable home environment with predictable routines, limits, and well-defined roles. It is essential that her adoptive folk(s) model strong boundaries and healthy parent/child relationships. It is also important that her adoptive folk(s) keep Krystal involved in many fun and engaging, structured activities.
