If you have completed an adoption homestudy and would like to have your information forwarded to this child's worker, contact us.

ALBERT (8/95) is very connected to his heritage and loves joining in ceremonies featuring Tglingit/Haida dancers. Albert has many interests, and some of his other favorite activities are fishing, collecting football and basketball cards, plying video games, riding his bike, and drawing (he’s talented, too!). Albert does an “awesome job” interacting with peers, according to his worker, and shows leadership skills.

Now in seventh grade, Albert is doing well in social studies and is benefiting from having academic supports math, reading, and spelling. He also has behavioral supports to assist him, which include a pass to go to the resource room if he needs to take some time out.

Albert, who first came into foster care in May 1998, came back into care most recently in July 2004. While trusting others doesn’t come easily to Albert, he does have connections and relationships with counselors and respite providers and others who are significant people in his life. Among his therapeutic supports, Albert is participating in a skill building group.

His state social worker believes that a two parent family or a single dad who has a strong system of support will likely meet Albert’s needs best. She is particularly interested in hearing from folk(s) who have meaningful experience with children who have endured early trauma. Being willing to participate with Albert in family counseling during his transition into his new family would be a wonderful way for his adoptive parents to claim him as their own and to show their commitment to him. It would also be helpful for Albert’s adoptive parent(s) to have a good grasp of the range of possible residual effects that can be associated with prenatal exposure to alcohol and drugs.

Folks who truly enjoy teenagers and who want the opportunity to nurture and guide a terrific boy through his adolescence and into adulthood are needed.
