Child's name: JustinNumber: C6768 Birthdate: 7/97 State: Washington Listed: September 2007 If
you have completed an adoption homestudy
and would like to have your information forwarded to this child's worker, contact us. While Justin is a youngster who can look like he knows what to do, he needs structure, a very consistent daily routine, and attentive supervision on the home front and in school. Justin is primarily a visual learner, who benefits when pictures, diagrams, and broad gestures accompany verbal instruction and directions, and often needs additional time to complete tasks. Having an adult nearby to help redirect him when necessary helps him to stay on track. A medication component, which was recently added to his treatment program, is proving to be quite successful in allowing him to better manage his anger, curb his defiance, and lessen power struggles. Such attentive supervision and on the spot redirection at home and school also helps him to interact more appropriately with peers. Justin, who was exposed to alcohol and drugs in utero, came into foster care in July 2004. Until August 2005, Justin lived with an aunt and uncle. He was then placed in foster care until he was moved to a specialized home in May 2007. ustin will likely do best in an adoptive family where there will be strong role models for him to emulate and learn from. Having adoptive folks who have a good grasp of residual effects of fetal alcohol and drug exposure will be essential in understanding Justin’s special needs and making sure that he has the educational, social, and developmental services needed to realize his potential. Justine is eligible for SSI.
