A handsome teen who wants to be adopted, TROY (4/94) longs for safe, nurturing, permanent parent(s) who will claim him as their own and hang in there with him over any rough spots. He especially wants a family that will honor his strong connection to the Christian faith. Although he can be shy is new situations, Troy is really very funny, outgoing, and highly likeable. Troy plays snare drums in his band class at school, an area where he truly excels. Many of Troy’s favorite pastimes are physical, such as playing basketball, swimming, skateboarding, and playing tennis. This is good because he needs lots of healthy outlets to expend his high energy. Of course, he enjoys playing video and board games. Troy has been excited at the opportunity this year to participate in after school activities and is really enjoying the peer interaction. Troy is legally free.

The relationship he has developed with his current therapist has given him a big boost forward. His counselor’s willingness to take time to play and participate in physical activities with Troy has led to a special bond between them. Attentive supervision and clear, concrete rules and limits, and on-the-spot consequences for misbehavior help him stay on track.

Troy is doing really great in his eighth grade classroom, which is a great source of pride for him. His efforts to improve his grades have been more than impressive as he is doing well in all of his classes. This turnaround from the previous year shows just how much Troy can accomplish when he sets his mind to something. His adoptive folk(s) can help by being strong advocates and taking the time each day to encourage and assist him on his school work.

Troy’s worker want to hear from single moms and dads and couples who have a good grasp of the range of behaviors associated with ADHD, and who want to the opportunity to help a young man succeed. Troy will be counting on his adoptive folk(s) to help him maintain significant relationships with his sister and others.
