"My name is Derek and I love fairs. I would like to have a family who will go to fairs because I want to ride on the Ferris wheel. It is really fun. I also like to make people laugh and I like to skateboard. I want a family who is active and who will watch me skateboard."

Derek is a fun-loving and very humorous child. He provides lots of entertainment for others. His counselor states that with the right supports, Derek is a "star" who can follow the rules and is making super progress in the program, as well as at school. Derek is currently placed in a residential treatment facility where he receives lots of supports in the areas of social skills and appropriate management of his challenges.

A family who is willing to access community resources such as medication management to help deal with the challenges faced by this young man will be a great match. Derek is very sensitive to medication changes, and thus any medication adjustments will need to be closely monitored. Providing a house that is full of nurturing, love, and flexible boundaries for Derek will bring his lucky forever-family lots of wonder.
