If you have completed an adoption homestudy and would like to have your information forwarded to this child's worker, contact us.

Legally free TEVIN (08/97) is delightful boy who wants to have a family of his own, and is looking forward to being adopted. He is well liked by peers, caregivers, and just about everyone else, including his worker. Tevin likes having a variety of things to do. Of course, he enjoys playing video games, but he is very athletic, and loves lots of physical activities, too. He especially enjoys riding his bike and playing basketball. He’s a big Seahawks fan!

Counseling has since been set up to help Tevin deal with his issues of trauma and grief, as well as his difficulty trusting that adults will keep him safe.

It would be an act of love and commitment for Tevin’s adoptive folks to participate with him in family counseling during his transition into their home, and even for some longer period of time there after. They can further show their commitment to keeping him safe by having a safety plan in place in the home, with clear rules, expectations, and limits, and attentive supervision. Helping him learn good personal safety skills will also empower him. It will be important for his folks to understand that adolescence can trigger residual effects of past trauma, and is a time when many kids need some added therapeutic support – especially someone to talk with them openly about uncomfortable subjects and who can listen with non-judgmental ears.

Tevin is doing satisfactory work in his regular classroom program in school with some extra support. It is likely that once he knows that he has a permanent, safe, nurturing family, his academic interests and abilities will increase.

Tevin is connected to past caregivers, including an aunt and uncle with whom he lived for a while. He also has relationships with his step-siblings ( a brother and a sister). Hopefully, his adoptive parents will be open to helping him maintain past relationships that are healthy and important to him.

Tevin is a neat kid who will likely have to test his new folk(s) commitment to him. They must win him over by making him toe the line and back it up with affection, loyalty and safety. Tevin will respond to knowing where he stands at all times. Tevin needs parent(s) who love him enough to show him what it means to be a “responsible” boy – one who accepts responsibility for his choices and behaviors.
