JORDAN (2/94) is friendly and engaging with a nice sense of humor. He loves the outdoors, and this past year, he got a tent, sleeping bag, and other camping gear and is rarin’ to go. Jordan is an avid bike rider, too, and a fan of foot-powered scooters. Of course, he enjoys playing video and computer games. A healthy young teen, he wears glasses to read.
Jordan, who came into foster care in mid-1999, is legally free. One of Jordan’s alternative placements was with an aunt, who was a previous short-term caregiver for him. While not a resource for long-term placement or adoption, Jordan and his aunt wish to maintain contact. He also wants to maintain contact with his younger sister, who has been placed separately. These family connections are very important to Jordan, and will also be an a supportive assets to his adoptive family.
Jordan is now in seventh grade for the 2007-2008 school year. He benefits from having extra support for math, reading, and history.
Jordan benefits from clear rules, expectations, and firm boundaries on the home front and in school. He also needs the support of counseling and medication therapy to help him manage his mood swings, attention difficulties, and high energy. Jordan continues to work, too, on issues of trust and attachment, and social skills development. Jordon needs trustworthy adults to help him feel safe and be able to move forward in his life.
His worker is looking for a family that can give Jordan the stability, consistency, and commitment that he desperately needs. It will be essential for his adoptive folk(s) to be highly supportive of his therapy program, and be willing to participate in it. Families of any make up (two parent, single parents) are all encouraged to inquire about this young man who wants to be a part of a family.
