Child's name: JonathonNumber: C6516 Birthdate: 7/92 State: Alaska Listed: February 2007, Updated 2/08 If you have completed an adoption homestudy
and would like to have your information forwarded to this child's worker, contact
us. Legally free, Jonathon came into foster care in the fall of 2004. He has maintained strong bonds with some of his brothers. And despite all of the ups and downs that he has experienced, he appears to have the capacity to form relationships with new people in his life. Jonathon does best when he has experienced parents who are willing and able to advocate for the wraparound services and medication therapy that help him stay on track, and who are able to coordinate and work cooperatively with his various service providers. Jonathon behavioral symptoms are associated with high energy and attention difficulties, mood swings, past trauma, and cognitive and academic delays. Because of the level of Jonathon’s issues and his need for one-on-one attention, his worker is especially interested in hearing from two parent families. However, single moms and dads who have strong support systems of family, friends, and community and who are strong advocates for support services are encouraged to call, too. Jonathon needs adoptive parent(s) who have a good grasp of the residual effects associated with exposure to drugs and alcohol in utero, as well as the impact that early neglect and abuse can have on a child’s sense of well being and safety and his emotional and behavioral development. Jonathon’s heritage is African American, and his adoptive folks must have pride in his heritage and help him feel connected to his cultural roots.
