TIFFANY (1/94) is a pretty girl with long brown hair and a nice smile. She enjoys sports and can play a good game of basketball, all of which contribute to her being physically fit. Some really neat activities Tiffany has enjoyed in the past include a therapeutic horse back riding program and winter skiing. Like many girls her age, Tiffany loves all sorts of fashion related things, like clothes, makeup, hair styles, and manicures. She also gets very excited about trying new foods and enjoys all sorts of new experiences, especially one-on-one or in small groups. Recently, Tiffany began participating in Girl Scouts and is enjoying the friendships and activities this has afforded her. Tiffany has a dream of traveling around the United States and having the privilege of seeing all the treasures of our great country.

Legally free, Tiffany came into care in early 2002. While Tiffany continues for now to reside in a group setting where she is benefiting from structure, therapeutic child care, and counseling services, she has made such great progress over the past two years that she is ready for placement in a permanent home. She continues to benefit from mental health therapy and her work with a language therapist. Tiffany relates well to the younger, female staff at her group home.

Tiffany is working hard in the on-site school at her group home and has been successful in many areas that have led to her transitioning to spend part of her day in a public, off-campus school. Now in eighth grade, Tiffany has some memory issues and math difficulties, and learns best through direct, concrete, repetitive means. Tiffany has grown socially and is beginning to make friends, which has been a very new and very exciting experience for her. She also has a new “best buddy,” at her group home.

Tiffany needs a highly committed couple or single mom willing to invest the time and attention she will need to continue to move forward. Having very clear rules and limits, consistent follow-through for non-compliance, and very close, attentive supervision are all keys to helping her doing well. Her parent(s) will need to be strong advocates for her educational and mental health therapy needs, and be willing to participate at the school and in her therapy as requested. It would be wonderful if she could meet her new adoptive family while she in her therapeutic group placement. That would give her and her new folk(s) the opportunity to have support in getting to know one another and to come together as a family.
