Meet JOHN (3/93), a handsome preteen, who wants to tell you a bit about himself.

"My name is John. I'm almost 13-year-old. I enjoy skateboarding, snowboarding, and snow machining. I also like to go hunting and play golf. I also like watching CSI, music videos on MTV, and movies."

"I like to read whenever I can. My favorite books are 'Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events' and the Harry Potter books. I like to read because I can sit down with a book and imagine myself there in the book."

"I want to be a volcanologist and study volcanoes when I grow up. Science is my favorite subject at school."

"I think it would be cool to have a family and to have someone to call mom and dad. Some things I'd like to do with my family are golfing, camping, and riding snow machines and four wheelers. I really want my own bedroom so I can have peace and quiet when I want it."

John has a brother and sister with whom he'd like to maintain contact in the future. (See Justin at C6208.) He would do best with parents who have patience and experience, especially in accessing community resources. John states that he wants parents who will understand him and help him deal with anger is positive ways. He's come a long way in self-management. "I used to be fireworks, but now I'm just a firecracker."

A bright and inquisitive boy, John needs individuals in his life to be his cheerleaders and encourage him to do his best. He wants a family that will be there for him as he is learning life's lessons - a place where he can feel he belongs.

If you are an experienced parent who balances lots of structure with a calm loving parenting style, your skills might be a great match for John's intelligence and curiosity.
