If you have completed an adoption homestudy and would like to have your information forwarded to this child's worker, contact us. Legally free, BRANDON (9/94) loves the Seattle Mariner’s Baseball team and activities he can do outdoors, such as horseback riding, mountain biking, playing basketball, and jumping on a trampoline. His newest hobby is taking digital pictures with his new camera. His foster parents report that he is great with animals, including the family’s dogs, cats, and four birds. He helps care for his pets, including providing food, water and exercise. Those that know Brandon best describe him as sweet, lovable, and friendly. Brandon loves drawing and is pretty talented at it too. He is in the seventh grade. His favorite classes are math and music. Brandon also enjoys reading. He sits and reads a book every night and is excited to pick out his next read at the local library. Brandon has extra behavioral and academic support in a special classroom due primarily to developmental delays. Brandon, who came into care in March 2001, is in a specialized counseling program. The primary goals of the program are to help him increase his social skills with peers, incorporate them into his routine behavior, and understand appropriate boundaries with others. He also has therapeutic support to help him manage his impulsiveness. One of Brandon's behaviors that can be especially challenging is very conservative ideas about gender roles. Brandon formed significant relationships with his current and former caregivers and is a child worth taking a risk on. Brandon could do well in a single or two-parent family with one or two strong mother figures. Brandon needs a family who is firm, yet patient. A family with strong grasp of how early abuse and neglect can effect a child’s self confidences and social readiness is needed. Brandon requires a patient family that is able to allow him space to express his frustrations and can give him space to calm himself. A predictable, structure home is a must for this energetic teen. Subsidy and Purchase of Service may be available. |
