Legally free, MALIK (7/93) is a friendly teenager who likes playing hockey and other sports, as well as, video games. Malik can be very lovable and generous with hugs. He is extremely close to his sister, Shakyla, who also wants an adoptive family. Although they would love to be placed together, their needs may be better met in separate adoptive homes. Maintaining frequent contact with his sister will be important.

Malik really wants a permanent family but has a hard time believing someone will want him and tends to sabotage his best opportunities. He could do well, though, in a family that takes the time to understand the past trauma of his early years. He and his sister missed most everything taught to preschoolers, and continue to need some of that extra teaching now.

Malik is a smart boy and his grades in school are outstanding! He continues to have supports to help him stay on track academically and behaviorally. Not having permanency is likely a cause of these acting out behaviors. Malik is learning ways to feel better about himself, strengthening his personal boundaries and appropriate social skills.

A structured home environment with kind, patient adults to guide and nurture Malik with new experiences in firm, yet non-judgmental, matter-of-fact ways is needed. A family willing to be actively involved in his educational and therapeutic services is desired for Malik. He adds, “Be sure to tell them I am good with dogs, cats and kids.”
